It is obvious that Anders had some major issues going on in his life. In his everyday life and in his profession he is over-critical of others and for that he puts himself above all other people. He is so caught up in himself and noticing others faults, he doesn't even realize the real danger he is in. Even when he had a gun pointed directly at him he wouldn't come back down to reality and quit being over-critical. The question I am asking is why? Why is he the way he is? Why is he so critical of others? Why would he rather mock the men with the guns rather than just humble himself and shut his mouth?
I still don't really understand Psychoanalytic approaches to literature but what I get from it is that he is hiding his own issues by concentrating on others issues. By worrying so much about others he can in turn avoid his own problems and pretend they don't exist. It is obvious he had many troubling experiences in his life when it talks about all the things he didn't remember. He purposely has tried to forget about those times and not attack them head on. This is his way of dealing with or ignoring his issues.
I think everyone has their own way of dealing with their problems. Some people may work out, others may eat or drink their problems away, while others mock and criticise others. (I personally watch Sportscenter) Whatever way we choose we all do it. Anders just chose to do it in a very negative and harmful way, a way that got him killed!
