CLASS CANCELLATION 2/18
Hi everyone. I am really sorry, but my daughter is really sick, and I don't have anyone to watch her today. I hate cancelling class, but I'm afraid I don't have another option today. I would still like you to post your responses before the normal deadline, and we can talk about "Marie" online. I will also talk about the story in class on Tuesday before preceding on to our discussion of Reader-response. If you have any questions in the meantime, please contact me via email. My sincere apologies, and I will see you on Tuesday.

What Jeremy, Kris, and Jeri have said about the role that the Social Security office plays in “Marie” has me thinking that maybe the office and Washington represent more than just abused personal rights and governmental mistreatment, although those probably are part of what they represent. I’m thinking they’re symbolic of something larger. But while I’ve been trying to articulate my ideas, they keep shifting and growing, and my blog entry has become the beginnings of my first paper. So I will forgo posting anything more today than this excuse for not posting a garbled, nascent outline of a paper that is mostly in my head anyway. Sorry.
