Anders has the fear of intamcy. This is portrayed by the way he reacts to the woman in the bank line. He had just had a thought about how ignorant the bank teller was. He agreed with the women but had a "murderous temper" and took it out on her.
When Anders is shot it is obvious that he lacks intamacy with people. He does not remember any of the important things such as his wife and daughter. Instead he remembers a baseball game which seems so unimportant, but I think it has to do with his built of feelings and also has to do with the reason why he is so judgmental. It seems that he is pushing others away by dwelling on the insignificant happenings of the past. He has been living in the past, instead of the here and now.
